Laos Buffalo Dairy (LBD) is the first and only buffalo dairy in Laos PDR, producing a wide array of artisanal cheeses and milk products which are directly sold to local and international customers. Located near Luang Prabang, the farm offers visitors a unique opportunity to visit dairy and production facilities, taste delicious cheeses and get up close with buffaloes and other farm animals.

The Longji rice terraces have a long history since the beginning of the construction during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) and it was completed in the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), with a constructing history of over 800 years. The fascinating rice terraces cover 66 square kilometres of the Longsheng county’s mountain, with the altitude from 300 meters to 1100 metres (Travel China Guide, n.d.). Longji rice terraces have been listed as one of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS).

People began traveling to Laos more than 3,500 years ago and settled in river valleys that cut through the country’s lush green mountains. Several millennia later King Fa Ngum unified these far flung settlements into Lane Xang, the Kingdom of a Million Elephants, and established the first Lao capital in Luang Prabang.
