Small Responsible Travel Businesses

The “Experience Mekong Collection” showcases small, responsible, and sustainable travel businesses in the Lancang-Mekong Region. The Mekong Tourism Advisory Group (MeTAG), made up of tourism professionals active in responsible tourism in the region endorse all nominations.

Nominations/applications, as well as listings are free. As a capacity-building initiative in the Lancang-Menkong Region, these best practices are to motivate other operators to learn and get inspired.

Social enterprises have the potential to drive sustainable tourism and to promote the region as an experiential and responsible travel destination. We aim to tell their stories to inspire travelers to experience these “stars of the Mekong”. 

Requirements

Each participating business must meet the following requirements.

  • Make a significant social impact to its community
  • Provide an authentically local experience positioning the region as a responsible, inclusive, and experiential tourism destination.
  • Have an innovative concept and sustainable business model
